You Can Have ALL This

Maybe you were not always the right fit, myself included. But, it is no original idea to want something you can’t have. You could have all of this…and then you just don’t. But, also you can.

We all have more than we realize. 

And, you can have all this.

It is not always glamorous or great — been there, for sure.

“You can have ALL this” originally started as an inside joke when my uncle had a few beers at the bar and dropped two gallons of milk on a carpeted kitchen and jokingly turned to my aunt and said, “You can have all this!” It was really funny, and is still really funny.

But, in a way, there was some profound truth in that moment. They and we actually had and have a lot, if you start tallying it up.

Take a physical survey. You quickly realize you don’t need stuff. The only thing that matters are relationships and time spent. Who can you really talk to? Who do you always talk to? And, how often do you talk to them? Why do you talk to them?

Pro Tips:

• Always do a tasting at Southern Collective before you buy. You never know what the next best barrel is that you can drink. Everything is great there, but you just might want to try something new.
• Family is relative. I am the most excited Aunt — blood or not — for this new amazing person on the planet of long-time friends.
• Have a plan, and then don’t. If you are walking by Union Station, just go in and have a drink and soak in the atmosphere. Guys — This is one place where you should buy your woman a nice glass of champagne and then soak up the ambience.
• Union Station is so beautiful. There is good music when you hang out there. Soak up the vibe. That is why you are there.
• At the end of the day, the only reason we are out at all is because we want to connect.
• Go see your friends for good craft beer at Hops and Crafts.
• Split “fish n’ chips’ at the British Bar a block away.
• Run into your cherished bourbon buddies and…do an Irish Car Bomb. If, you think you can do it. If you already know you can’t do a full-on Irish Bomb, a solid Bailey’s shot will do and you can still hang.
• Then, go home.

The reality is, you have most everything and everyone you need. I know, am related to, work with, and interact, with the best people on the planet. So, I am going to revel in that.

Don’t underestimate two things: long-term good family and friendships and good bourbon. God speed. The grass is almost never greener.
